HAMPTON BEACH MASTER PLAN

Looking to restore Past Glory

The Hampton Beach Area has some new eyes addressing the economic, transportation, environmental, and land use issues.  A 10 and 50 year Master Plan is being prepared that will create a unified plan to address these issues and make recommendations to improve the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.

To meet the Hampton Beach Area Master Plan, the town has approved a $12 million bond to improve the infrastructure.  This will improve and upgrade area streets to provide proper drainage by the use of curbing and renewed storm drain facilities; upgrade the sanitary sewers for future demand; and improve the general visual environment by providing new decorative street lighting, landscaping, and sidewalks to address public safety.  These improvements would be constructed in phases starting with Ashworth Avenue.  Other phases would include the streets between Ocean Boulevard (Route 1A) and Ashworth Ave. (Lettered Streets), most streets on the west side of Ashworth Ave., and the streets in the area known as Hogs Island located east of Ocean Blvd. and south of Haverhill Street .

Benefits to the town in making these improvements include:

  • Enable the Public Works Department to better meet its commitment to the community
  • Enhance pedestrian safety
  • Proceed with meeting the Beach Area Master Plan
  • Meet the recommendations of the Hampton 201 Wastewater Facilities Plan
  • Upgrade old and under-sized infrastructure
  • Have the infrastructure system support approved beach development, which at this time it does not
  • Proceed with drainage requirements in accordance with EPA guidelines to save us from future violations
