If anyone is interested in buying a seat in memory of them, please email Pat for information.

April 9, 2002: Since this website has been an ongoing saga since late 1997, I decided to bite the bullet and get us our own domain name (my $8.95 donation to BHS!). So, add BHSClassof73.com to your list of bookmarks/ favorites! Hopefully this will make the site easier for people to find as the 30th reunion is next year!

February 1, 2002: Marilyn Mullen is just back from 3 weeks in New York City as a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer. My first 10 days were spent working as the floor supervisor of a warehouse in New Jersey. Yes that was the one who received the trucks from all over the US that came with "In-Kind" donations. Then I was reassigned to headquarters to be a courier to all Relief Centers and to the Red Cross Chapters in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I can now drive all over Manhattan. If you thought my driving was aggressive before, watch out.

We worked 12 hour days - 6 days on - 1 day off. Got to do some site seeing but more importantly, I visited 5 firehouses in Manhattan and Brooklyn and paid my respects to those that were lost.

OK, these are the cliff notes. I do have much more to tell. The stories I heard from the folks at the Relief Centers are harrowing.

I was proud to serve and would go back immediately if I could. Maybe summer I will return.

The following note was sent to Marilyn from Joe Michel

Hello Marilyn:

Just want to say way to go. Saw an article in the paper about QC people going to help in New York and there you were! Hope it was as rewarding as I imagine it had to be. I have lived around here most of my life and am amazed by how seldom I recognize a familiar face in public places or in the news. Hope things are going well. Keep in touch.

Joe Michel

Dr. Cheryl Willman, professor of pathology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where she directs the Center for Molecular and Cellular Diagnosis and Cancer Research & Treatment Center; came to Bettendorf for a speaking engagement in 2000. Photos of the event, along with recent photos of many BHS science teachers accompany the story.

The Bettendorf High School Drama Department hosted a Visiting Artist presentation by Jon Erickson.  Erickson presented "FAST Sculpting Media" Thursday, September 5 2002. The presentation featured both a visual record of some of Jon's diverse creative efforts (from dolls, huge bug heads and statues to ENORMOUS scenic sculptures and more), to live demonstrations of his favorite materials and "cool stuff" with touchable examples.
